The Chandler Community
The city was established and named for veterinary surgeon Dr. Alexander John Chandler who established a ranch in the south-central region of the state. The Gilbert Community
Located in the south-central region of the state, the Phoenix suburb was originally established by William Gilbert as an agricultural community. Once the Arizona Eastern Railway arrived in 1902, the city grew. The thriving metropolis is within close proximity to the Saguaro National Park and the Tonto National Forest. Local points of interest include the Gilbert Historical Museum, the Higley Center for the Performing Arts and the Riparian Preserve.


Mesa AZ

The Mesa Community
A suburb located about 20 miles (32 km) east of Phoenix. Mesa is the central city of the East Valley section of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Mesa is a thriving metropolis, with lifestyle and leisure pursuits in high demand. Surrounded by the Sonoran Desert, Mesa is a playground for outdoor recreation, with convenient access to three lakes, two rivers and endless hiking trails. Jack Swilling (1830-1878) founded Phoenix in 1867 as a venture in irrigated farmland. He never overcame his addiction to drugs and liquor, and died in jail while awaiting trial for highway robbery. Phoenix is the anchor of the Phoenix metropolitan area, also known as the Valley of the Sun, which in turn is a part of the Salt River Valley.
